Retransmission

According to the Law on copyright and related rights of the Republic of  Lithuania  (Copyright law) the definition of„cable retransmission“ means the simultaneous, unaltered and unabridged retransmission by a cable or microwave system for reception by the public of an initial transmission, by wire or over the air, including that by satellite, of radio and (or) television programmes intended for reception by the public.

 

How does it works?

Law on copyright and related rights of the Republic of  Lithuania recognizes the right of audiovisual works producers and authors to authorize the public performance including retransmission right of their audiovisual works, as well as to receive a remuneration for it. On behalf of audiovisual works authors AVAKA collectively manages public performance by cable retransmission, as these royalties cannot be collected on an individual basis. AVAKA grants the licence for cable operator to retransmit audiovisual works and collects remuneration for it.

 

AVAKA on behalf of representd rightholders:

  • Negotiates with audiovisual works users (cable operators) and organisations wich represents cable operators;
  • Establishes tariffs;
  • Signs contracts;
  • Manages payments;
  • Collects data;
  • Administers debts;
  • Collects remuneration;
  • Distributes reumeneration;
  • Make payments;

 

AVAKA administers these audiovisual works rightholders:

  • Audiovisual works producers;
  • Audiovisual works authors: the director, author of the screenplay, author of the dialogue, art director, cameraman and composer of music (with or without lyrics), specifically created for use in this audiovisual work.
