According to the Law on copyright and related rights of the Republic of Lithuania it is permitted for a natural person, without the authorisation of the author of the work or any other owner of copyright in the work, to reproduce, exclusively for his individual use and not for commercial advantage, in a single copy a work lawfully published or communicated to the public. Due to this statement the Copyright law also indicates that rightholders of works shall be remunerated and the compensatory remuneration shall be collected, allocated and paid by the collective administration organizations approved by the institution authorised by the Government in accordance with the procedure laid down by the Government.  

AVAKA is authorised by the Ministry of culture of the Republic of Lithuania to distribute and pay remuneration for audiovisual works producers and represented authors.  

AVAKA on behalf of representd rightholders:

• Monitors audiovisual works market and collects data on audiovisual works usage;
• Distributes royalties;
• Make payments for represented rightholders;

  AVAKA administers these audiovisual works rightholders:

• Audiovisual works producers;
• Audiovisual works authors: the director, author of the screenplay, author of the dialogue, art director, cameraman and composer of music (with or without lyrics), specifically created for use in this audiovisual work.
